The festival typically takes place over Independence Day week, and in 2026 it runs July 2–6 in Key West.

What the Festival Celebrates

Key lime pie originated in the Florida Keys, so the event celebrates the island’s culinary heritage and eccentric culture with citrus-inspired food, drinks, and experiences.

Signature Events

Visitors can take part in a wide variety of events and tastings throughout the city, including:

• Key Lime Pie Eating Championship – A famous July 4 contest where competitors race to devour pie without utensils.

• Key Lime Cocktail Sip & Stroll – Guests visit participating bars to sample creative lime-inspired cocktails.

• Key Lime Pie Drop – A playful engineering challenge where participants design contraptions to safely drop a pie from the historic lighthouse.

• Mini Pie-Making Classes – Learn the secrets behind authentic Key lime pie.

• Vendor Village & Culinary Events – Local restaurants, bakers, and artisans showcase Key lime-inspired dishes, desserts, and souvenirs.
